*Disclaimer: Sorry, I don’t have photos of each step, but I hope you still get the idea of how to put this choker together.
Materials:
– 3/8″ flat velvet ribbon
– pendant (optional)
– 2 5mm jump rings (3 if you have a pendant)
– lobster clasp
– 3″-3.5″ chain (a little longer if the necklace is for someone else)
– 10×7.6mm flat crimp ends
– E6000 glue
– 2 needle nose pliers
– awl or something to poke a hole
– lighter
Directions:
1. Measure the length around your neck and subtract one inch. *If this choker is not for you, subtract two inches.
2. Cut the velvet ribbon to the final measured length.
3. Use a lighter to seal the ends. Be careful!
4. Apply E6000 glue to the inside of one of the flat crimp ends. A little bit of glue goes a long way.
5. Place one end of the velvet ribbon inside the flat crimp end with the glue.
6. Close the flat crimp end using needle nose pliers by squeezing the two sides together as tightly as possible.
7. Repeat steps 4-6 with the other flat crimp end and the other end of the velvet ribbon. See image below.
8. Open all jump rings using two needle nose pliers (one on each side of the opening of the jump ring). *Pull the ends apart from each other, one towards you and one away from you.
9. Take the first jump ring, loop it onto one of the flat crimp ends, and add the lobster clasp to that same jump ring.
10. Close the jump ring using the two needle nose pliers. See image below.
11. Take the second jump ring, loop it onto the other flat crimp end, and add the chain extender to that same jump ring.
12. Close the jump ring using the two needle nose pliers. See image below.
13. If you are not using a pendant, you’re done! If you are using a pendant, keep reading for instructions on how to add the pendant.
14. Bring the ends of the choker together to find the middle.
15. In the middle, measure 1/8″ from the edge of the velvet ribbon.
16. Make a hole using an awl or some other pokey tool. Make sure the hole is big enough to fit the third jump ring.
17. Take the third jump ring, loop it into the hole, and add the pendant to that same jump ring. Make sure the pendant is facing the correct way if the front and back are different.
18. Close the jump ring using the two needle nose pliers, and it’s complete!
