New Year’s resolutions aren’t for everyone. Often times people set them just to set them without much thought. I’m a bit late as I took some time to really think about my list. It took some deep digging and admitting to some things I didn’t want to face, but I finally figured out what I wanted for 2018. I’ve given a little explanation for each down below.
My New Year’s Resolutions
This simply isn’t about losing weight. It’s about making decisions that affect my overall health. Lately, I’ve been eating poorly, not exercising, and sleeping super late. It’s time to change those habits for the better. I need to start focusing on my health and future. My goal isn’t to go on a diet or to exercise daily. I’m sure everyone can agree on how tough it is to keep up with that. I want to make healthy decisions when it comes to food, exercise, sleep, work, relationships, anything and everything, but that doesn’t mean I can’t have a cheat moment every now and then.
My husband and I have been living in our house for about a year and three months. There’s not much decor, the walls badly need a paint job, and we’re still missing a couple pieces of furniture. Yes, the house is filled with our things, but it’s so bare and void of our style that it doesn’t feel like our home. Someone once told us that you’ll never really finish moving in. Well, that’s definitely been true so far. It’s hard to decorate when we often disagree on style, so we’ll see how it ends up.
3. Declutter
Our house may not feel like our home yet, but we do have A LOT of stuff, especially me. The master bedroom closet is probably 80%, if not more, my clothes. In addition, I also get to use two out of the three bedrooms as my own. The guest bedroom stores my shoe collection, holiday decor (that only I really care about), clothes I’m getting rid of, and more of my belongings. The third bedroom is my office / craft room. All the walls are lined with desks and shelves. I have so much stuff that even after organizing, I still can’t find anything. On top of all that, we just have a lot of clutter / junk.
4. Send cards to loved ones
This is something that I’ve always wanted to do, so I hope this year is the year that it finally gets accomplished. I want to send a birthday card to as many family and friends as possible. Sending “happy birthday” over social media is great and convenient, but I believe physically giving and receiving a card gives a whole different feeling that makes it all worth it.
5. Start planning
Planning is something that I’ve never been able to stick to. It’s great for a couple weeks, but then it always falls by the wayside. I even have multiple planners, but maybe that was part of the issue. This year I’m going to stick to weekly planning in one planner, and maybe I’ll get more done including these resolutions.
Those were my New Year’s resolutions. Again, I’m still the same me, but hopefully an improved me by the end of the year. I want to know if you set any resolutions for 2018. Let me know in the comments if you did and what they are.
